Medicaid by state is on hold

We built this section, checked the source, and pulled it. The data was eight years old.

What happened

The CMS dataset we used publishes state Medicaid thresholds as of 1 April 2018. Several states expanded after that date. Thresholds moved.

Publishing 2018 eligibility figures to someone deciding whether they can afford to stop working would be worse than publishing nothing. So we stopped.

What to use instead, today

Go straight to the source. Your state Medicaid agency holds the current numbers.

What you wantWhere it lives
Medicaid and marketplace cover before 65healthcare.gov
Social Security, claiming from 62ssa.gov

Help paying the Part B premiumAsk your state agency about Medicare Savings Programs
Help paying for drugsExtra Help, via ssa.gov

The last two get missed most. Both pay real money. Both need an application nobody sends you.

When this comes back

When we find a current source we can cite and date. Not before.
